Thun loses against Aarau

Match report.
The game
Once again, FC Thun Berner Oberland is empty-handed against Aarau after 90 minutes at Brügglifeld. In the meantime, however, Bernegger's team proved morale.
The Thun team had high hopes for the match against FC Aarau. But the disillusionment follows already in the 7th minute of play. A corner kick is cleared straight into the feet of Mickaël Almeida. He doesn't take long to score the opening goal from close range to make it 1:0 for the home team. Thereupon, an entertaining game develops with equal shares of the game without compelling scoring chances on both sides - until the 37th minute of play. Once again, it is Mickaël Almeida who convinces with his efficiency and extends the lead to 2:0 with an impressive full-stretch shot under the crossbar. However, Thun does not let itself get down and fights back within four minutes. First it is Sahleh Chihadeh in the 59th minute of play who decisively deflects a finish from Nias Hefti and scores to make it 2-1, then in the 63rd minute of play a corner kick is headed into his own goal by Léon Bergsma to make it 2-2. The thrilling duel is decided only shortly before the end. In the 88th minute of the match, a blocked shot attempt by Marco Aratore ends up with Filip Stojilkovic, who reacts in a flash and scores to make it 3:2. In the last minute of the regular playing time, Aratore finally makes everything clear with a confidently converted foul penalty to make it 4:2. (nth)

Defeat against Schaffhausen

Match report.
The game
Three goals conceded in the first half decide the match between FC Schaffhausen and FC Thun Berner Oberland.
Although Dominik Schwizer almost scores the opening goal after just a few seconds, the first half holds little joy for the Oberlanders. After just over three minutes, it is already 1:0. Danilo Del Toro showers the Thun team ice-cold with a well-placed low shot. In the 22nd minute, Francísco Rodríguez scores to increase the lead to 2:0, and Rodrigo Pollero extends the lead to 3:0 with a header about 10 minutes before the half-time break. After the break, Thun starts with two strikers and puts Schaffhausen under more pressure. But it is again the home team that is successful. Again, it is Rodríguez who scores from the sharpest angle to make it 4:0. (nth)

Thun loses against GC

Match report.
The game
On icy terrain, Thun loses the top match of the Challenge League against Grasshoppers because of two standard goals.
Shortly before the start of the game, a heavy snow shower surprises the officials in the Stockhorn Arena. Only thanks to a feat of strength by countless helpers, who clear the pitch of snow in no time at all, can the match against GC kick off at all on Friday evening. The two teams start cautiously, with only a few scoring scenes in the first half. Nicolas Hasler has the best chance to score the opening goal after about a quarter of an hour, but GC keeper Mateo Matic makes a brilliant save from close range. Shortly before the half-time break, the guests take the lead 1:0 after a corner kick by Dominik Schmid. Also after the change of sides, the two teams are on eye level. The game continues to take place mostly in midfield, scoring chances are scarce. So it is not surprising that the Zurich team also scores the second goal after a corner. Captain Aleksandar Cvetkovic scores the second goal to make it 0:2. (nth)

Thun wins against Xamax

Match report.
The game
Thun remains unbeaten in the fourth game of the new year. Against Xamax, the Oberlanders win thanks to double goal scorer Omer Dzonlagic and Dominik Schwizer sovereign 3-0.
English weeks mean a special burden for the players. That's why coach Carlos Bernegger is making changes in four positions for the match against Neuchâtel Xamax compared to last Tuesday's game against Kriens. Among other things, Omer Dzonlagic replaces Nuno da Silva in the starting eleven. A rotation that pays off. After a sharp cross from Grégory Karlen, Dzonlagic is in the right place and scores to make it 1:0. Fifteen minutes later, a deflected cross from Karlen lands again with Dzonlagic from Meiringen, and again the ball lands in the net to make it 2:0.
As at the beginning of the first half, the Thun team struggles with the Neuchâtel team's style of play after the change of ends. But again the Oberlanders adjust well to the opponent and find better and better into the game. In the 69th minute of the game, Dominik Schwizer completes a perfectly executed counterattack with the goal to 0:3. (nth)

Thun wins against Kriens

Match report.
The game
Thun wins a match full of fight thanks to merciless efficiency with 2:0.
Already at the beginning of the match it becomes clear that Kriens will be a tough opponent as in the first encounter in the fall. Much struggle and few coherent moves characterize the game in the starting phase. In the 22nd minute, however, Nicolas Hasler makes the Thun hearts beat faster. His shot from the edge of the penalty area is deflected by Burim Kukeli into his own goal for 1:0. Also in the following the game remains balanced. While Kriens repeatedly fails to score against the brilliant Thun goalkeeper Andreas Hirzel, it is Grégory Karlen who exemplifies efficiency in the 59th minute. His shot from distance is accurately placed in the bottom corner for 2:0. Conclusion: Thun closes the preliminary round with a work victory and is now temporarily even in 1st place in the table. (nth)

Victory against Lausanne-Ouchy

Match report.
The game
Efficient Thun win against defiant Lausanne. After Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy dominates the first quarter of an hour, the Thun team gets into the game better after 20 minutes. Through a beautiful distance shot by Kenan Fatkic with the predicate "goal of the month", the Oberlanders take the lead 1-0 in the 22nd minute of the game. Eight minutes later Nuno da Silva escapes from his opponent on the right side. Gabriel Kyeremateng reacts quickly and serves da Silva with an accurate pass. The hat trick scorer from last Saturday then scores alone in front of goalkeeper Justin Hammel to make it 0:2. After the break, the pressure of the home team increases again. In the 57th minute of the game, the Thun defense briefly loses the assignment, which Yanis Lahiouel mercilessly exploits. With a remarkable heel trick, he scores the equalizer to 1:2, but Thun once again succeeds in breaking away from the stranglehold with a calm, unexcited style of play. In the 78th minute of the game, joker Saleh Chihadeh even manages to score the all-important goal 1:3 with his head. (nth)

Thun wins against Schaffhausen

Match report.
The game
Nuno Da Silva is the undisputed match winner with three goals in FC Thun Berner Oberland's first mandatory match after the winter break. In the 4th minute of the game, he benefits from an insufficient defense of the Schaffhausen defense after a cross from Dominik Schwizer and scores with a low shot into the far corner for 1:0. After a good quarter of an hour, he is served by Nicolas Hasler and scores from almost the same spot as before for 1:0 the second goal for 2:0. Thun plays dominant and attacks Schaffhausen early. The lead at half-time is more than deserved. After about 60 minutes, however, the guests change their tactics and thus upset the home team. Although Da Silva is able to go alone on goalkeeper David Da Costa after a counter-attack and scores ice-cold to make it 3:0, it is now FC Schaffhausen that determines the game. Thun struggles to break free and promptly concedes the goal in the 77th minute to make it 3:1. Ivan Prtajin scores with his head. For Schaffhausen it is no longer enough and the Oberlanders bring the - all in all just - home victory over time. (nth)

Thun wins against Xamax

Match report.
The game
After a nervous start with several careless mistakes on both sides, Thun takes control of the game more and more. In the 37th minute, Chris Kablan crosses back to Noël Wetz. Wetz hits the ball directly into the net with a volley from the penalty area line. A dream goal for the Thun youngster, who scores for the first time for the 1st team. After the break, Xamax gets into the game better and has several good opportunities, but Andreas Hirzel in the goal of Thun thwarts all with strong saves. The Oberlanders continue to be efficient on the other side. After a corner in the 60th minute of the game, Nicolas Hasler is in the right place and scores the 2:0 with his head. The Neuenburgers now press vehemently for the lead. In the 84th minute, it is then the newly substituted Endrit Morina, who asserts himself in the penalty area against the Thun defense and scores to 1:2. But it is not enough for Xamax, Thun brings the 2:1 advantage over time.
